Questions

QuestionHow do I access CMIP data at NCI?

Answer: In order to access the CMIP data on Gadi or in the ARE VDI, you must request to join the project containing the CMIP5/6 datasets as specified on the Data Access page. This requires agreeing to the Terms and Conditions that govern download of the CMIP data from the ESGF.

NCI hosts primary copies of ACCESS1.0, ACCESS1.3, CSIRO-Mk3.6.0 and CSIRO-Mk3L-1-2 for CMIP5, and will host the primary copies of ACCESS-CM2 and ACCESS-ESM1-5 for CMIP6.

Question: Why is the CMIP6 experiment/model I am after not published on ESGF?

Answer: Official CMIP6 data is expected to be released in September 2018. Not all modelling centres have their output ready and datasets will continue to be published over the remainder of 2018 and into 2019. NCI will host Australian data and replicate other models data according to community need. For the current CMIP6 replication plan see NCI Replicated Data information. It may take some time before all the models/experiments you may be after are available for download at NCI.

Question: What do I do if I can't find the data I need at NCI?

Answer: If the data is not currently available at NCI, you may request for it to be downloaded. See the Data Download Request page.
