Errata fix completed

The following errata identified below have been (mostly) resolved.
Please note: that CRRPh data from 2015 and 2016 has not yet been reprocessed and is expected to be made available within the next two weeks.

Datasets hosted under rv74 were discovered to contain erroneous elements. Specifically, the data issues reported are:

Title: Data error in the “convective rain rate - physically based (CRRPh) product”

Description: CRRPh has issues retrieving rain rates in the tropics, leading to 'donut'-shaped holes of no rain, where a large amount of rain should be. A reprocessed version of CRRPh is envisaged to be released on March 4th, 2024. All affected files will be retracted in the meantime.

Affected Data: All files under /g/data/rv74/satellite-products/arc/der/himawari-ahi/precip/crrph/

Title: Incorrect DOI in solar irradiance product metadata

Description:  A DOI listed as part of the solar irradiance products metadata (https://doi.org/10.1127/metz/2016/0781) is missing a digit, and is unresolvable. The solar irradiance P1S, P1H and P1D products will be unavailable for a number of hours on March 4th, 2024 as the metadata is corrected.

Affected Data: All files under /g/data/rv74/satellite-products/arc/der/himawari-ahi/solar/

Title: Directory missing version numbers

Description: The current directory structure doesn’t include the version numbers as part of that structure. It will be updated to include the version numbers on March 4th, 2024. For example, the current structure /g/data/rv74/satellite-products/arc/der/himawari-ahi/precip/crrph/<year>/<month>/<day>/ will be updated to /g/data/rv74/satellite-products/arc/der/himawari-ahi/precip/crrph/<version number>/<year>/<month>/<day>/

Affected Data: Directories under /g/data/rv74/satellite-products/arc/der/himawari-ahi/precip/ and /g/data/rv74/satellite-products/arc/der/himawari-ahi/cloud/

All historical Himawari 8 Cloud and Precipitation derived products are now available on Bureau of Meteorology Satellite Derived Products (rv74) data collection

All historical Himawari 8 Cloud and Precipitation derived products are now available on the rv74 data collection, from the start of Himawari-8 operational lifetime () to the present (with a three month delay) now available in the Archive datastream.

This includes the following products:

  • Cloud Mask (CMA)
  • Cloud Type (CT)
  • Cloud Top Height and Temperature (CTTH)
  • Cloud Microphysics (CMIC)
  • Convective Rain Rate (CRR)
  • Convective Rain Rate - Physically Based (CRRPh)

The remaining planned products for the rv74 data collection, High Resolution Winds (HRW) / Atomospheric Motion Vectors (AMV) and Rapidly Developing Thunderstorms (RDT), will now start processing and become available from Q3 2023 onwards.
