MobaXterm setup
This page will provide NCI users with a brief outline about how to use MobaXterm as the SSH client for Gadi.

To start, you will need to visit https://mobaxterm.mobatek.net/ and click 'Get MobaXterm Now!'. This will take you to a screen where you can choose what edition of MobaXterm you would like to download, for the purpose of this guide, we will be using the free Home Edition.

Once this is downloaded, please extract the files and open the MobaXterm application.

The landing page should look like this, where you can choose between a light and dark mode.

To connect to Gadi using MobaXterm, click the 'sessions' icon, in the top left., which will open a new window. Click the SSH button, in the top left and we can begin logging into Gadi.

In the 'Remote host' Boxyou will need to enter gadi.nci.org.au

You will then need to check the box next to 'Specify username', and replace the default with your NCI username, e.g. aaa777.

Click 'OK', at the bottom of the window and a new session should open for you.

At this point you will be prompted for you MyNCI password, type it in and hit enter.

Note that when you are typing your password, it will appear that nothing is being entered. Don't worry about this, Linux based systems do not show output when typing passwords.

MobaXterm will also prompt you to set up a 'master password' at this point, so that MobaXterm can store and encrypt all of your passwords

However, be sure to use a password that you will not forget, as you will lose all access to stored passwords if you forget the master password.

Now that you are logged into Gadi with Mobaxterm, we can continue with the walkthrough of Gadi
