| zz63 | 1, Title: Infinite values in bias adjusted output Description: For tasmaxAdjust and tasminAdjust bias corrected files, a few infinite values have been observed. These occur only at different single grid points across the whole ensemble run (i.e. 2-10 points at 2-10 locations between 2015 and 2100 output for one GCM-RCM pair). These points were valid values in earlier versions of the output. Investigations are ongoing, and output without these will be generated once the cause is resolved. 2, Title: Sporadic mask values for variables at specific pressure levels Description: Mask values can appear sporadically in variables at specific pressure levels. This was caused by an issue in the specific version of a package we used (wrf-python 1.3.4.1) involving an if construct that did not cover every case due to inconsistent inequality statements. This causes grid cells where the pressure takes the exact values of 250, 500, 700 or 750 hPa in the raw data to have values masked out.

| zz63 | 1, Title: Adding time_bnds to selected files from UKESM R5 ssp126 Description: Output for six variables at daily and monthly time steps were missing time_bnds variable for 2052 and 2053. The changes only add time_bnds and do not change underlying variable data, with new files located in latest directory (which will link to v20241015 directory). 2, Title: file names for UKESM driven model rlus variable not consistent Description: rlus files on release for the UKESM-driven models had file names that were not consistent with other variables for these models. 1hr files ended in -yyyy123123 instead of -yyyy123023; day files ended in -yyyy1231.nc instead of -yyyy1230.nc; mon files ended in -yyyy123123.nc instead of -yyyy12.nc. These will be corrected in the latest version to the correct names in directories with v20241015, also linked from ‘latest’. There is no change to the data within the files. 3, Title: multiple rlus files for UKESM models for certain years Description: Related to issue (2) with incorrect file names for rlus, the updated files provided on 17 July 2024 (Issue 11) for single point fixes used the correct file names for 144 files. This means that older files were not replaced but moved the latest directories for these years – so some years contain both the incorrectly named ‘old’ file name and the correctly named replacement. The corrected files will be moved to the v20241015/latest directory as part of update 2, and the incorrectly named files will be archived.

| py18 | 1, Title: Update 1: evaluation, historical and ssp370 BARPA-R files Description: This update fixes messy latitude and longitude coordinates which can lead to unexpected behaviour when combining multiple variables in a single dataset. It limits the number of significant digits in the latitude and longitude coordinates to four. This update also improves on the algorithms used for calculating evaporation (evspsbl), specific humidity at the surface (huss) and relative humidity at the surface (hurs) and re-grids the wind stress variables (tauu and tauv) to the same grid as all other variables (e.g., temperature). The grid_mapping_name attribute will be changed to latitude_longitude to fix an error when using CDO for re-gridding. 2, Title: Update 2: ssp126 and ssp585 BARPA-R files Description: This update publishes the new re-grided wind stress variables (tauu and tauv) which have been re-gridded to the same grid as all other variables (e.g., temperature). These were added in the v20240712 update, with no changes to the data itself. 2, Title: UKESM1-0-LL ssp126 WRF412R5 input/write error Description: An error was noted in the input for the outer domain 2052-10-29 12:00, which resulted in low sea surface temperatures for a six hour period. As this propagated through model outputs for the years 2052-2053 only but not for subsequent years, a re-run was undertaken with correct input data until at least the end of that ensemble model year (2052), and will impact all variable output for this year. The expected impact in terms of monthly averages is expected to be negligible.3, Title: rlon values in file metadata in wrong order Description: rlon values in metadata in all files is in the wrong order. A corrected set of data for both domains will be provided that people can import and use, otherwise suggest that people use regular lat and lon co-ordinates. Fixed co-ordinates are provided in files /g/data/zz63/NARCliM2-0/rlon-correction-*.txt 4, Title: 3hr and 6hr data for CORDEX core based off wrong time stamp Description: The values for 3hr and 6hr data for variables described by CORDEX as instantaneous should be data with timestamps beginning at 0Z and going up by equivalent increment. On review this was noted to start at 1Z for 3hr, and 3Z for 6 hour. Data for 1hr time stamps for all CORDEX core subdaily, and 3hr for psl and clt, was correct. While this issue impacts only instantaneous CORDEX core variables at 3hr (not including psl) and 6hr, we removed all lower frequency subdaily CORDEX core data for consistency. The 3hr and 6hr frequency data may be regenerated with correct time stamps at a later time.
