Ending your VDI session

There are two ways to do this:

  1. Within the VDI desktop session, select 'Log out' from the 'System' menu

OR

  1. Browse to the My Interactive Sessions page
  2. Click the Delete button on the relevant session

Disconnecting from a session

If you just want to disconnect from the virtual desktop and leave it running so that you can return to it a short time later, then simply close the browser tab.

If you temporarily lose connectivity to the desktop (e.g. network dropout) then the effect is the same.

Reconnecting to a session

  1. Browse to the My Interactive Sessions page
  2. Click the Launch VDI Desktop button on the relevant session
  3. Continue using your desktop from where you left it

Time Limits

VDI sessions will run up to a maximum duration that you specified when launching

The maximum time limit will depend on the resources you request for the session - see Queue Limits page for more details

VDI Compute Resources

The ARE VDI App allocates dedicated compute resources for each session.  You can select from several predefined session sizes or manually specify what you need.

If you attempt to use more CPU resources than you requested, your processing will be constrained to this limit.

If you attempt to use more memory than you requested, your VDI session will be terminated.
