User support

  • The NCI Help Desk phone (02 6125 3437) remains non-accessible due to work from home and ANU phone configuration issues. Contact user support by email: help@nci.org.au and provide contact details if a phone or zoom discussion is required for a support matter.

Adapter scheme 2022

  • Revised Adapter scheme schedule for 2022
    1. Committee EOI call Q1-Q2 – IN PROGRESS
    2. Call for applications in Q2 May-June (for allocations in Q3)
  • Adapter: new merit-based allocation scheme providing mix of Gadi compute, cloud compute, Gdata storage.
  • Quarterly call for applications, for 20 MSU/Quarter resource share.
  • Adapter project allocations are up to 500 KSU/Q, or 250 KSU/Q for two consecutive quarters.
  • Adapter SU request => user specified combination of Gadi, Gdata, Cloud resources.
  • Resource equivalence:  (maximum combined request = 500 KSU)
    1. Gadi: 1 SU = 0.5 core-hour
    2. Gdata: 1 TB-quarter = 6.25 KSU
    3. Cloud: 1 vcore-quarter = 2.8 KSU
  • Adapter proposals require a data management plan. Quarterly call schedule requires that data entitlements will expire at grant completion. Data expiry grace periods to be confirmed.
  • Adapter is well suited to projects with:
    1. mixed compute and storage requirements,
    2. seasonal or sporadic workloads,
    3. data-dependent workloads,
    4. single-cpu or single-node workflows.

ALCG 2022 call for applications

  • Australasian Leadership Computing Grants: 2022 call for allocations FY 2022-2023.
  • 150 MSU/year available to support successful proposals. Target: 2-4 projects.
  • ALCG call has two phases
    1. Expressions of Interest – March 2022: 6 of 12 EOI's invited to submit full proposals; total compute request ~240 MSU.
    2. Invited applications – April 2022: IN PROGRESS
  • Ambitious proposals are encouraged!
